Being Made New

In last week’s episode, we discussed how to move into the promised land that God has in store for you according to His plan. So, now that you’ve walked into this, what do we do? This is the major point we address in this episode all about being made new.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Once we cross the line of faith, we are new creation, and we can move forward in this. If walking into our promised land meant being free of addiction, then the new you needs to eliminate things that can pull you back into the toxic addiction. Promised land can looks like a new job, so that may mean leaving toxic coworkers behind. Whatever promised land you’re stepping into, know that it can require some leaving behind of other things.

“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13-14

We love these verses in Philippians because it encourages us to leave behind the old that is holding us back from what we need to press on and look to. Reflect on who God wants you to be and the role He’s calling you to, and then pray for next steps on how that looks in daily life.

Stay on Plan

We can all agree that knowing God’s plan for you is very different than acting on God’s plan for you. God wants great things for you, but that does mean putting in work on your end. God may want to give you an amazing marriage, and that may mean going to couples therapy and putting in the work there. Maybe God wants you to leave behind your old identity, but that means resting in knowing that you’re being made new.

Once you know His path for you, stay on course. You may have inadvertently been living a stressful life, even though God is calling you to abundant life. The more we can stay in His plan, the more abundant our lives become.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

John 10:10

Being outside of god’s plan is the worst thing for you, and we know that there is an enemy trying to keep us off track constantly. If thriving in your promised land means cutting something out, do it. Do not conquer your Jericho and revert to the ways they lived (metaphorically). You are being made new. This may mean new friends, new habits, and new opportunities.

Live it Out

In this part of episode 184, “Being Made New”, Brooke and Faren dive into what life looks like now that they’ve reached a promised land in the work world. We both stepped out in faith in very different ways, and we are reaping the fruits of obedience. We each discuss three pockets of life and our current steps to acting in faith. Here are the questions for you to reflect on. “With this new promised land, how are you…”:

  • Tweaking your habits (change, modify, drop)
  • Utilizing your community (discussion, study, witnessing)
  • Creating goals that are in alignment

Our answer vary from changing our wake up times, how we get ready for the day, when we work out, how we talk with one another, etc… If you’re looking for ideas, definitely scroll back up and press play to hear what we’re doing in this new promised land.
