Thinking About Thinking

Did you know that you don’t have to believe every thought you think? Yeah, that’s a game changing perspective. The enemy throws whatever he can and sees what sticks. It’s our job to armor up, call out his game, and then attack by leaning into God’s truths.

When we think about our thinking and are intentional with what we process through, we can better understand truth from lies. That’s great news! Thank you, God, for giving us the Holy Spirit to live within us and the wherewithal to know how to combat toxic thoughts. Here’s what you can do to help yourself stop spiraling thought:

  • Memorize God’s truth (Bible)
  • Be mindful about thought patterns
  • Circle your behaviors back to your motivations
  • Dig deep to discover the root of your motivations that turn into actions

You can do this by journaling, seeking wise counsel, prayer, studying the Bible, or tuning into your church’s latest sermon (there are so many more options, these are just a few).

What We Believe

What is that one limiting belief that you’re sticking to for no reason? Have you convinced yourself of something that isn’t even real? Jennie talks about the three lies it all boils down to: being helpless, worthless, or unloveable.

Good news! We can debunk ALL of those toxic thoughts by leaning into God’s truths that can be found in the Bible. We go into detail here in episode 84, so be sure to check it out (scroll up to listen!).

PRO TIP: To stop out of control thoughts remember that you have a choice. You must actively choose to trust God and what He says to be true. Also remember that not making a choice is a choice. You can either play into that toxic thought, or you can choose to trust God and what He says.
