Overcoming is a Blueprint

In episode 179, “Your Experiences Can Help,” we dive into what the phrase “God’s inside man” means, and how that applies. When we read about Rahab, we can see that because of her status and experience, she had a way to hide spies, speak confidently, and follow through with action. Today as we apply this to our lives, we can look at our life events, what we learned from it, and how to turn it into something that helps others. If you’ve overcome something, you now have a blueprint in which you press on. Yay, you!

We discuss many ways in which we can use our lives to further God’s kingdom. Past experiences is one of the few ways we discuss in this episode. Whether it’s surviving abuse, overcoming trauma, or whatever you had to press on through, these are things that God will turn into beauty. Through Him, we can see ways in which we can walk alongside those who are a few steps behind us. We have blazed a trail and we can now be a guide for others. Here are some journal prompts to get your mind jogging:

  • What label were you called in the past?
  • Have you gone through something you know others struggle with?
  • Is there a time you felt like an outside?

Physical and Natural Positioning

Along with past life events, we also talk about how your positioning can further God’s kingdom. Physical position can mean anything from where you live, where you meet up with people, your job, pretty much all things external. Natural positioning constitutes as personality traits, giftings, talents, hobbies, etc… You can use the combination of your physical and natural positioning to guide others to Christ.

Here’s some great news: God designed you specifically for where you are right now in this moment. He has equipped you with the exact skills, traits, and even your neighborhood has been planned for you. God wants you to step up and into a position to use those gifts to direct others to Him. If you’re not sure of your skill sets, use these journal prompts:

  • What do you do for fun?
  • How do you enjoy helping others?
  • What advice do people seek from you?

We want you to pray over this. Ask God to point you in the right direction if you’re feeling stuck with how to use you talents. Once you ask God, make sure you listen to the Holy Spirit with the intent to act on what He says. The more you listen to God, the easier it is to hear Him speak. How cool is that?

Still Stuck?

Still feeling like you’re on an island and feel like no one else has gone through what you have? We get it, but we do know something else. The devil wants you to feel alone, in the dark, and like no one else will ever understand what you’re going through. Friend, you are not alone. Jesus will walk with you in step; just ask Him to.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

Hebrews 4:15

Jesus has been through it all, and still didn’t sin. Wow! We can trust Him because He knows what He’s talking about, He’s lived it, and He’s come through the other side. He has the ultimate blueprint. Know that God wants to use you, equip you, and guide you along the way. You are never alone in this.

You get the choice to step into the role God is calling you to. It’s His power and specialty to call and equip you, and your faith enables you to be a part of the miracles. Here are some ways you can work on building your faith:

  • Reading your Bible
  • Praying consistently
  • Christian community
  • Telling other about Jesus
