Episode 9: Listener’s Choice- Surviving Fall Camp

Fall Camp is when all of the collegiate athletes begin reporting to their respective schools to endure the grueling pre-season workouts. Fall Camp occurs before any other students are even on campus. Some schools have their athletes move in as early as June and other schools have athletes report a few days before. Either way, the workouts are brutal.

1.Physical Health & Wellness

Hydration should be a no brainer, but what about pacing yourself? Heard of Staph before? Not to mention, we address injury maintenance. We give real tactics we have used from our collegiate athlete experience, and we know some others may be able to relate and shout a big “AMEN!”.

2. Mental Health & Wellness

The consequences of not maintaining the mental aspect of fall camp are detrimental. This can sneak up on you if you’re not careful. Tune in to hear about battling ego, developing grit, and something that so many players and parents do not even think about when preparing for these ruthless weeks.

3. Hidden Rules

Here we talk about weight, equipment, & the eyes in the sky. You can save yourself from many surprises or learning the hard way from listening to this section. Too many athletes go into fall camp and have no idea this stuff happens.

4. Tips

These tips will help make your transition less stressful and more practical when experiencing fall camp. This is knowledge that we acquired from our “elders” who went before us. Some we added and passed along to our newbies upon graduation.

Y’all. FALL. CAMP. IS. ROUGH. But we would go back and do it all over again. The way you grow as a young adult through these experiences has a high return on how many real life skills you gain in order to function in the adult world.
