Why Your Story Matters

At Witty & Gritty, we know that sharing your triumphs through trials has a profound impact on people. We’ve had many people over the years on the show who aren’t afraid to leverage their wisdom to help others grow. We like to say that your battles become someone else’s blueprints. You have the key to unlock how to press on through a specific challenge that you’ve faced. Your story matters, and when told, can help others.

Think of a hardship you’ve gone through. Someone in the world is right there in the thick of it. If you could give them encouragement, tips, or strategies, what would you tell them? We know that God doesn’t waste a hurt, and that means we need to step up and help others through it.

 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:14

If you are feeling the Holy Spirit nudging you to share your story, pray about it! Your story will help others see that they are a part of something bigger than themselves. God works everything together for the good of His people. Choose to follow God’s promptings and be vulnerable with your story in a healthy way that drives others towards the love of Jesus Christ.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

You’re Not Alone

Want some great news? You’re not alone in this world. You have a God who loves you and wants to grow closer to you. Pray for a community of people who will surround you with the love of Jesus. If you’ve gone through the unthinkable, know that God will make it right, and you can leverage your learning. This is why your story matters.

There are online groups, church programs, and communities that are dedicated to what you’ve specifically gone through. There is someone out in the world right now that has gone before you and can point you in the right direction. If you’re having trouble finding this, ask a local church, pray for guidance, and guess what? You may be the leader. Be ready to step up and fulfill the calling god has placed on you.

“give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified”

Isaiah 61:3

Time for a Challenge

If you’re on the other side and have come though a trial, cheer others on. We are called to spur each other on and challenge each other to become the best version of what god has called us to be. If you need a little motivation in the “challenge yourself” category, look to your inner circle of trusted Chritsian friends to stand with you in the arena (shout out Teddy Roosevelt). God wants you to use your testimony to point back tot he glory of God.

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 1:6-7

As Teddy Roosevelt once said, “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
