Ben Newman: The Power of Positive Summit

Every year, Jon Gordon hosts the Power of Positive Summit. He brings in inspirational public figures to speak life into the viewers and to give genuine advice on how to thrive in life. Ben Newman is a performance coach and works with all sorts of teams and businesses. He charged his viewers to think about three potentially transforming questions:

1.Who are you surrounding yourself with?

Ben spoke about having solid people in your life who will help you thrive. You need great people who will pick you up, help you see your strengths, speak life into you, and help you stay disciplined. Who are the ones in your life who see you when you’re vulnerable? We are not meant to do life on our own, and getting the right people in our circle is necessary.

2.How is your environment?

Are you setting yourself up for success? Do you have systems set in place to help your daily routine run smoothly? Something the best coaches and influencers talk about is daily discipline. You must have them and you must do them consistently. Newman says being honest with yourself about your environment is a great first step to making necessary changes and enhancements to your life.

3.How are you showing up?

Standard over feelings. ALWAYS. The heart can sway us and our minds can play tricks on us, so having standards and sticking to them will set you up for a better future. Ben’s advice rings true, “Do not allow your feelings to dictate how you show up.” You need success standards. What drives your standards? Your daily disciplines!

Newman’s Final Thoughts

Focus on your standards, the process, and disciplines. Take one day at a time and keep showing up. You’ve go to dig deep and win the day. Control what you can control: your effort, your attitude, and how you show up every day.
