Reading About Inner Strength

As we continue to walk through the book of Ephesians, we hope you’ve had a chance to read through chapters 1 and 2. This week, we’ll be discussing a verse from Ephesians chapter 3 that talks about our God given strength. After listening to today’s episode, take some time to read all of chapter three.

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.”

Ephesians 3:16

We know that on this side of Heaven, we’re going to have peaks and valleys. The valleys can sometimes feel like the pits of hell, and that’s why this verse written on your heart is so important. God given strength will be working in you to press on through these tough times in life. Thank God!

This verse speaks of supernatural power coming from the Holy Spirit, and boy do we need it on some days. Tap into this promise of God given strength. Once you truly know that you cannot handle this life on your own and you need God’s help, you can humbly walk in His strength, not your own. Learning how to struggle with grace can only be done through Him.

Pray for Empowerment

Pray and ask God if you are trying to find strength in worldly things. This could be disguised as success, money, titles, etc… Pray over this verse and believe that you will receive God given strength. Know that you are not alone in this life, and God will carry you if you just ask for His help.

This comes with a ton of humility and vulnerability. Once we can humbly admit that we cannot survive without God given strength, we can take that to God, and pray knowing that He will fulfill what He says He’ll do in Ephesians 3:16.

Talk & Be Vulnerable

Once you chat with God, it’s a lot easier to take it to your inner circle. Ask your community to pray on your behalf. In this part of the episode, we talk about times we’ve felt that we’ve been on the hamster wheel of life, and we can’t get off of it. Some of you may be in a season of job loss, miscarriage, or a wayward child. Take all of this to God, and have your friends rally in prayer around you.

We also talk about that dreaded feeling…you’re angry at God. Don’t stay stuck here, friends! Let your people pray over your, for you, and on your behalf. God can handle your big, ugly feelings. Let this also be reciprocated in your inner circle too. When you see someone struggling, stop and pray for them. Ask for God given strength to fill up that person.

Tell Your Kids About Intercession

It’s never too early to start teaching your kids about intercessory prayer. When we intercede for one another, we can help carry the load. In episode 195, “God Given Strength,” we walk through a few ways to teach and model intercession with kids. The same strategies will help with adults too. We touch on topics like being helpful, acting out of love, and swerving one another.
