Show Notes: Episode 12

Click to Listen!

You made it to the show notes of episode 12! In this episode, we talk about the Enneagram basics and the types 8, 9, & 1.

Episodes 11-17

Enneagram Basics

Triads: The 9 nine Enneagram numbers break down into three groups of three: The Anger/Gut Triad (8, 9, 1), The Feeling/Heart Triad (2, 3, 4), & The Fear/Head Triad (5, 6, 7). The 3 numbers in the each triad are connected in some ways, and the book does a great job of breaking this down.

Wings: These numbers are on either side of your Enneagram number. For example, if you’re an 8, your wings are 7 & 9. The authors go into great detail about how wings work and use the great analogy of paint colors.

Stress/Secure: These are the two number that you go to when you are either stressed or secure. In stress, you will take on the negative qualities of your stress number. In security, you will take on the positive aspects of your secure number.

This is the part where we don’t want to give too much away! The best way to get the most out of going through each number is to grab your copy of the book and download our workbook. You can work through each chapter to discover your number. There are no “bad” numbers, we are all vital in this world!

Type 8: The Challenger

Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way. Some descriptors of 8s can be: enjoy debates, love action, excessive, loyal, intense, aggressive, to just name a few. 8s are the ones you want on your team because they get so fired up. Once you prove your loyalty, they will get your back until the end. They’ll be your hype-man, your champion, your victor. Get these guys in your life, stat!

Type 9: The Peacemaker

You cannot find peace by avoiding life. Some descriptors of 9s can be: go with the flow, easy to please, homebodies, quietly stubborn, mediators, and the list goes on (be sure to check out the book!). We need 9s in our lives so we are able to see all points of view with a clear perspective. They will be your greatest advocate and go to bat for you.

Type 1: The Perfectionist

Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. Some descriptors of 1s can be: meticulous, detail oriented, process-driven, loud inner critic, rule followers, and the list goes on. Having 1s on your team helps keep everyone on task, up to date, and in compliance. Need someone to read the fine print? 1s are your people to help!

Stay tuned for the rest of the Enneagram series! We’ll discuss the next two triads as well as three interviews after the book discussion. It’s going to be great!
