Listen to the God Stories

Rahab was familiar with the God os the Israelites. She heard story after story about how God came through and fought for His people. When the two Israelite men came across Rahab’s home and said who they were, she was on board with helping them. She had paid attention to the stories and knew God was powerful and would do what He say He’ll do.

As we walk through life, we should pay attention to not only the stories from the Bible, but from others’ testimonies. Lean into what is being said, and what they learned from the experience. Rahab’s faith began with her listening to and believing the stories of the Israelites. Here are some reflection questions to help you dig deeper:

  • When was a time in your past God came through for you?
  • How much are you sharing these stories with others?
  • What have others said with how God helped them?

How to Hear from God

First, let’s look at a mindset shift: Getting to even hear from God is a privilege. It’s easy to feel entitled to this or make it seem like no big deal, but the truth is that God loves us and wants a relationship with us. This means we get to talk to Him and have access to Him as often as we choose. Choosing to listen and communicate with Him is something we should strive to do each day.

There are many ways God communicates to us, we just need to be looking and listening for it. Here are just a few ways The Holy Spirit can work within us to hear what God ahs to say:

  • through scripture
  • nudges/gut feelings
  • audibly
  • in your thoughts

If you’re wanting to hear from God, make sure you’re in a posture to do so. Pray about it, journal about it, sit in the quiet, the list goes on in episode 175, so be sure to scroll back up and press play. Once you hear from Him, move through the following:

  • read your Bible
  • listen
  • ask for clarification
  • follow through
  • share with people who can pray for you
  • pray on it
  • move forward one step at a time

What’s Stopping You?

So, what stopping you from doing this? Are you in a crazy season, or feel spiritually dry? This is normal to experience in life, but choose not to stay stuck. The word of god is so powerful, so know with certainty that satan doesn’t want you to read your Bible. He is scheming to keep you stuck, feeling alone, and playin with your emotions to manipulate you. Don’t fall into this trap. We take some time and walk you through how this can look, so please make sure you scroll up and press play on the episode.

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
